Centenary City – Exhibition at Pankhurst Centre
November 22, 2018 @ 8:00 am - March 10, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
As part of our programme of activity to mark 100 years since some women first gained the right to vote, the Pankhurst Centre in Manchester is holding an exhibition of the city’s response #Vote100.
The exhibition features a selection of objects from some of the city’s key #Vote100 moments, including banners, artworks, leaflets, badges and other items. Many of these have been collected through a series of Centenary City open Days that have taken place at the Pankhurst Centre, inviting the public to come along and share items that they would like to become part of an archive to record how this radical city commemorates this landmark year, providing a lasting record for generations to come.
In order to document as much event activity as possible, a digital map has been created when people can pin a location in the city where they’ve taken part in a centenary celebration, adding in photos, selfies, stories, films and audio to create a living representation of what’s taken place. Anyone wanting to record a Manchester centenary moment can add their own pin before or during the exhibition: pankhurstprojects.org/centenary-city-map
You can visit the Pankhurst Centre at 60-62 Nelson Street, Manchester
Opening times:
Thursdays from 10am-4pm and on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 1pm -4pm.
Please note that the Pankhurst Centre will be closed from Monday 17th December 2018 – Wednesday 9th January 2019.
