Bike Ride – Portrait of a Pacifist: Margaret Ashton

A 10 mile cycle tour that tells the story of suffragist Margaret Ashton, Manchester’s first woman Councillor ousted from the City Council Education Committee in 1917 because of her pacifism.  Hear how a portrait to commemorate her seventieth birthday and give recognition to her civic work was refused by the City Art Gallery.
