The Sylvia Pankhurst Gender Research Centre proudly presents Centenary Celebration: Living up to Sylvia

Date and time: 6 February 2018, 2.30-5pm

Venue: Geoffrey Manton Building, Manchester Campus, GM LT 3 and atrium

The Representation of the People Act 1918 received royal assent, and so became law on 6th February 1918. We will celebrate this landmark by offering a programme of talks and music about ongoing activism.

Approximate Programme:

2.30pm Stalls and refreshments in the atrium

3pm Opening Remarks (speaker tbc)

* Dr Kate Cook: Living up to the Suffragettes

* Elaine De Fries, Pankhurst Trust: Centenary Activism

* Eve Holt and Nicola Waterworth, Happen Together CIC, Some Women

* Sandhya Sharma, Safety4Sisters, Excluded Women

* Cate Allison, MASH, Voices of Survivors Greater Manchester

* Claire Mooney, singer-songwriter, sings some of her songs, finishing with the new Sylvia’s sisters, commissioned by the Sylvia Pankhurst Gender Research Centre, for this event.

There will also be stalls and chances to buy Dr Helen Pankhurst’s new book Deeds Not Words, and Claire Mooney’s CDs so do bring some money

Admission is free.
